When Locksmiths Race for Leads, Customers Feel It Too
Updated July 15, 2026
Today I noticed a lot of Instagram ads for AI bots that help locksmiths, handymen, and other service pros be the first to grab jobs on Thumbtack.
I actually think AI is great. If it makes someone's job easier, I'm all for it.
But if locksmiths need AI just to keep up in the race for leads, maybe the problem isn't the technology.
Maybe it's the system?
The race doesn't stop with the locksmith
And that system doesn't only affect the locksmith. When work goes to whoever clicks first or spends the most on ads, customers often feel it as rushed quotes, confusing pricing, or a van that was never really nearby.
You're locked out. You don't care who won an auction. You care whether a real local pro can help — and whether the price you hear before they drive out is the price that sticks.
That's the problem we're trying to solve
That's the problem we're trying to solve with LockUnlocked.
We believe good locksmiths shouldn't have to compete based on who responds first or who spends the most on lead generation — and customers shouldn't have to pay the cost of that race.
There has to be a better way to connect people who need help with qualified local professionals.
That's what we're building.
